Welcome to the International Allied Health Conference (IAHC), Singapore, which is held in conjunction with the 3rd Singapore Allied Health Conference. I am elated to extend an invitation to all Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to join me in Singapore as this is the nation’s inaugural international event following multiple conferences catered to our local needs. IAHC 2024 will allow AHPs from around the globe to converge in one location to showcase the excellent initiatives across the care continuum, collectively amplify the impact of our work as well as engage in compelling discussions about the future of our profession. The Allied Health scene in Singapore is vibrant – with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) helming the Singapore Allied Health Conference and National Healthcare Group (NHG) anchoring the Centre for Allied Health and Pharmacy Excellence (CAPE) Allied Health Congress on alternate years. Some of our overseas counterparts in Australia, the United Kingdom and Malaysia, have also embarked on their regular Allied Health Conferences. The National University Health System (NUHS) is privileged to lead the planning of the 3rd edition of the Singapore Allied Health Conference in 2024, alongside the IAHC 2024, to enable the international Allied Health community to come together and harness our collective strengths and insights on a global scale. Our theme for this conference is “Advancing Allied Health: Diverse in Calling, United in Purpose”. The theme has been purposefully crafted to encompass the wide range of AHPs that practise at various touchpoints of the care continuum, no matter who and where they are. Advancing Allied Health signifies the advancement of AHPs across the dynamic healthcare landscape, whether in leading advanced practice, or advancing in the scope and capabilities of the AHPs. Diverse in Calling aptly represents the diversity of Allied Health professions that span across countries and jurisdictions, healthcare systems and within individual institutions. Despite the differences in Allied Health professions, the identity of AHPs in the respective jurisdictions, AHPs remain United in Purpose in playing our crucial roles in today’s multidisciplinary teams and delivering care to our patients and clients.
